What can I use to keep my shoes from smelling?

I have had my shoes since December of 2006 but every time I wear them and take them off after I use them, they have a smelly scent in them.I don't have athletes feet, and my feet don't sweat, I think it just may be the kind of material.Every time I wash them they still smell. What can I do other than buy new one's because I really like those shoes?

Just dump a bit of baking soda in them after you wear them, and shake the powder out before you wear them next. Sometimes the plastics and synthetic rubber in the shoes has a sulfury-chemical smell, and NOTHING will get rid of that. After washing, it seems to get even worse. Oh, and EVERYone's feet sweat, and you don't have to have foot fungus to have smelly shoes.
