I am a shopping addict! Please help!?

I constantly make up lists in my head for stuff that I want and do not need, yet I can not control my strong desire to go out and buy them. I am broke usually right after payday.

I can not seem to shake the idea that material possessions are worth more than money!? It may be a pair of shoes, or a new computer to replace my 6 month old laptop. I am constantly looking for a reason to spend money and spend money on things I know I do not need.

Why am I afraid to hold on to money? Please help me stop my shopping addicition before I go bankrupt.

It's like I'm doing doing a similar battle overhere. Difference is I do not not have that much money to buy a laptop every six months Your buying power must be way bigger than mine.. Here are some quick suggestions I actualy wrote down for myself

1. Make a list of all the things you bought in the past and realy like. cherish them. Is it much? wasn't it enough? If you get the feeling it is, your kinda cured till the next pair of gorgeous must have shoes pop-up! hold on,

2. Write down a few big "goals" that cost way more than the individual little thingies you have ever bought. Goals you thought were never possible cause they were beyond your buying power. Therefore you quickly spent your money on the little things instead. Add the cost of all the little thingies you bought together and you couldve scraped 1 big thing of your "big goals" list.

Big things are ie. New wooden floor, laptop, vacation to italy incl expenses.

3. This is how economy works,

they give you just enough hard earned cash knowing you will spend it all when they give it to you in time-frames They have knowledge of common human behavior, so dont hate yourself for it, its normal. You automaticaly keep comming back to work for your next paycheck just to be able to do the same thing/spend on the same things next month. Fight the power and save some money. If you feel you bought enough in the past, and had pleasure doing it, Take a walk through the park this time instead Or have some tea with friends at a tea-bar wich is fun too. Doesnt cost much Gets you through time. Saves you money.
Reply:The best thing to do is to let your husband(if you're married), your parents, or a trusted person to keep your money for you. If you can, put your money in the savings account. That way, you'll less likely to use them.
Reply:I thought you'd never ask. so please don't go crazy.
