if it is dirt on your shoes i suggest using a cloth which has been dampend by warm soapy water (dishwashing liquid)

and i would'nt recommend using oil, i think it might wreak your shoes

and i think a premant marker might be a good idea if the material of your shoes has been scratched

good luck
Reply:Well polishing takes a few hours, and is you need some kiwi wax, which just about every house has somewhere.

However, I'm thinking you want a quicker alternative to that.

The cooking/canola oil idea might work, you'd need to put a dap on a terrycloth (or anything 100% cotton), and put your finger on the backside of the where the oil is. Then in circular motions, rub in the oil. spread it out as thin as you can.

And thanks for reminding me, I've got to do a touch up shine on my shoes for tomorrow.
Reply:vaseline definitely.
Reply:try putting cooking oil on a napkin and rubbin gthe shoes with it
Reply:Vaseline is the best thing you could possibly use.

Take it from a man (a man with shiny shoes)
