Hunting for FINE ART goods in Milan..good place???

This city is known for its' huge shopping possibilities, the large variety of clothes, shoes etc.. But what about when it comes to Art materials in Milan ?? Italy is the country of art otherwise, so I naturally think there are many more fine art materials shops in Italy than in many other countries.. Am I correct ?? And of course I am talking of Milan mostly.

So the questions..

Is Milan good for coming to collect ones art materials ?

Is Milan's art material stores relatively cheap compared to other countries ? Do you know any examples ?

What are the fine art store that you would recommend ??

And finally.. are there any other cities in Italy that would be extremely well suited for art materials shopping ??

Thank you sooooooooo much in advance !!!!!

Hunting for FINE ART goods in Milan..good place???
hi... of course milan is good for shopping... but also for art and art shops, as you said.

brera is the most important art academy in the world... and guess where it is? yep, in milan... brera quarter is one of the nicest areas of the city... old little streets, beautiful ancient flats, with balconies in flowers!!! really good for nightlife too... quite crowded...

anyway, here i saw a lot of the shops you are talking about... they sell pictures, sculptures, fine fornitures and great stuff and objects for painting, drawing and art-working!

they are expensive though... totally! but obviously the quality is so high....

unfortunately... i don't remember any name! sorry!
Reply:Can not help you with Milan, but Arezzo in Tuscany has an enormous antiques market on the first Sunday of the month and the previous Saturday, centered on Piazza Grande and Piazza Vasari, in the historical center of the city. There are more than the 500 exhibitors coming from every part of the country and it is most attended antiques market of Italy. In average the visitors are approximately 20.000 every month. It can be found of all: furniture, paintings, books and ancient press, clocks, glasses, cloth, iron and the most varied curiosity between. The hunting to the valuable object, to the "piece" lacking a precious collection, already begins during the previous evening the opening of the market, when the goods still is packed on the trucks and it is closed, often after ignited dealings, to the sunset of Sunday. Thanks to the market, today in Arezzo are available beyond 100 stores of antique dealing.

Sorry, now I see that you are looking for art material, my mistake.
Reply:You'll have to go to the Breda area wher the art school is. You'll find may shops where students themselves shop for art materials. Can't give you a shop name but can tell you that there are several in the area.
