Knee high socks?

Okay so I saw a picture of Miley Cyrus with a plaid skirt and knee high socks that were white with black stripes at the top, I thought it was really cute. I have a plaid skirt and am going to buy the socks, but what type of shoes would I wear with that? The socks that i will be getting are like regular sock material. would I wear tennis shoes or what? And I was thinkin that I would pair the socks with knit shorts too, like a 70s looks.

I think a pair of white jack purcells wouls be cute..I don't know about the shorts though, you could try it out it might be cute ♥
