VAT and customs fees question?

Does anyone know the formula used to figure the VAT and customs fees for athletic footwear imported into the UK form Mexico. The shoes are made entirely from man-made materials. No leather.

VAT and customs fees question?
i'm afraid unless someone on here imported the same item in the past few weeks from mexico, you won't find out on here. the duty rate depends on what classification the footwear falls into for import tax purposes. it'll be a percentage of the value of the import (inc p%26amp;p). vat, at 17.5% for adult size footwear will be based on the subtotal value of the goods inc p%26amp;p and duty. so the costs will creep up. last time i looked up footwear (about 2 months back) the duty was about 17% plus 17.5% vat. not cheap.

there's a classification line you can use to verify everything i just wrote, they're on 0172366077 or you can use the import advice line on 0845 010 9000 option 2.

Reply:vat is 17.5%

they will charge you import duty and then vat on that too.

if you allow 50% it should cover it

oh you may have to also pay a storage fee if it is impounded oh and they will charge vat on that too
