Do patent leather shoes really contain leather or are they some other material?

I have always wondered what they are made from.

Do patent leather shoes really contain leather or are they some other material?
Patent leather is leather that has been finished with chemicals that give it a shiny, reflective surface.

Most stages of the preparation of patent leather are the same as for other fine quality leathers. However, it is in the final finishing stage, when it is coated with a lacquer to give it its characteristic glossiness.
Reply:patent leather is real leather. it actually depends where yur getting the shoes. u can look on the inside. if it says "man made leather" that means its not real.
Reply:Patent Leather is real leather polished to a nice shine.

However, there are knockoffs of patent leather that simulate the look but without the leather. Look inside your shoe. It'll tell you if it's made of leather or not.
Reply:Patent leather is actual leather.

Reply:Not 100% sure, but I don't think it's real leather (I think it's some type of polymer close to plastic).
