How to deodorize shoes?

I find that shoes that must be worn with bare feet, tend to get a little stinky after a while (heels, ballet flats and such). What is a good way to clean them without ruining the material that will really freshen them up? Also, whats a good product to use inside your shoes prevent this from happening?

How to deodorize shoes?
2 things you can do. baking soda like the other person said. another one before you put your shoes on. wash your feet in rubbing alchol. this prevents sweeting and also dries real fast. so you wont ruin your shoes
Reply:try sprinkling baking soda in them, like arm and hammer
Reply:Sprinkle baking soda in them over-night. I do it, and it works really well.

Hope this helps!
Reply:Newspaper..im not kidding, newpaper is naturally absorbant, so stuffing newspaper in your shoe absorbs bacteria and odor.its really cool!!!
Reply:Its going to sound a little strange (and make sure you get rid of as much as you can after) but bicarbonate of soda always works for me... takes away the dampness and smell :D
Reply:arm %26amp; hammer poder. or any kind of deodorizing poder. just sprinkle some in your shoes after you are done wearing them and the odor %26amp; wetness is gone!! i use it on my ballet flats - doesnt ruin them at all
Reply:I use foot powder in my shoes sometimes. If you stuff your shoes with newspaper overnight it removes moisture from perspiration and reduces odor quite effectively. I think I originally learned about it from Hints from Heloise.
